POOL
& DECK LIGHTING

Time for the cookouts and pool parties!
While many of our customers are preparing to enjoy the
summer months in the back yard, there is one common theme our
technicians witness when they visit homes around the
state and that is minimal outdoor lighting or the large flood
lights on the corner of the house attempting to cover the entire
area.
Have you ever been at a party and found yourself trying
to find the best angle to place your seat so you're not blinded by
the unforgiving flood light while you're trying to hold a
conversation? Or maybe the path to and from the back yard is not well
lit or the steps are a bit dark.
When designing or upgrading your outdoor lighting, there
are many types of lighting options for your deck, posts and pathways
to suite your specific needs and budget, while creating the right
ambiance.
For your convenience, we have provided a quick link to
learn more about outdoor lighting.
Please feel free to call Solvit and we will be more than
happy to set an appointment for a no obligation lighting consultation
with one of our licensed and qualified lighting specialist. At
Solvit, we can help you design and install the best lighting package
for your needs and budget.

TESTING
YOUR WATER

Homeowners generally receive their water from
either its own well or from a public or municipal source.
Public and
Municipal Water Systems:
Are tested and regulated by State and Federal
standards.
Even still, many homeowners have us install sediment
filters and charcoal filters for better taste and odor.
Homeowners are responsible for testing their own water.
When was the last time you tested your water? If you
can't remember, now may be the time.
A quick guide on what to test for is as follows.
If water stains plumbing fixtures and laundry: Test for
iron, manganese and hardness.
If water has an objectionable taste or smell; Test for
hydrogen sulfide, pH, corrosion index, copper, lead, iron, zinc,
sodium, chloride and TDS.
If water appears cloudy, frothy, or colored: Test for
color, turbidity and detergents.
If pipes or plumbing show signs of corrosion: Test for
corrosion index, PH, lead, iron, manganese, copper and zinc.
If water leaves scaly residues and soap scum, and decreases the cleaning
action of soaps and detergents: Test for hardness.
If water supply equipment (pump, chlorinators, etc.) wear:
rapidly: Test for pH, corrosion index, hardness.
Routine Water Tests.
The testing frequencies to follow are general
guidelines. Test more often if you suspect there is a problem with
the quality of your drinking water.
Once each year test for coliform bacteria, ecoli and nitrates.
it is best to test for these contaminants during the spring or summer
following a rainy period. These tests should also be conducted after
repairing or replacing an old well or pipes, and after installing a new
well or pump or radon in water system.
Every 3 years test for sulfate, chloride, iron, manganese, lead,
hardness and corrosion index.
If a new baby is expected in the household it is a good idea to test
for floride and nitrates in the early months of a pregnancy,
before bringing an
infant home, and again during the first 6 months of the
baby's life

Can Duct Cleaning Cure Allergies?
The answer is no; however, many individuals state that
it does help with their symptoms. After all, does it makes sense that
you vacuum your carpets, clean your drapes, wash your windows, dust
your furniture, clean your furnace and air conditioner but then not
clean your ducts?
Ductwork
distributes the air to and from each and every room in your house,
so yes it does make sense to clean your ducts.
People with
allergies do everything from clean their sheets and bed coverings
more frequently to even freezing their pillows.
So why do so
many people not have their ducts cleaned? Good question; maybe
because ducts are out of sight, out of mind.
Even people
without allergies comment on how there is less dust build up on
their vents and grills and the air is fresher when we
deodorize the ductwork after a thorough cleaning.
If you are
considering air duct cleaning, give us a call and ask for Jamin Deschaine.
He will help walk you through the process, answer any questions you
may have and review pricing.
Just remember,
be careful of the "cheap prices" advertised in the paper.
More often than not, you will end up spending more than you
thought for less service.

Over the years we have spoken to our customers
about our service and one common theme spoken is that they
appreciate most that all our employees undergo rigorous background
checks to include criminal records, vehicular violations and drug
testing.
Believe it or not, a high percentage of applicants fail to meet the
standards we set in order to work for our company and in your home.
This is an added cost of doing business but we feel is most
important.
Our management team often worries about where some of these
applicants end up working and all the homes or businesses they
enter. Most of our competitors do not hold these standards yet
we hope they will someday follow our lead.
Please do yourself a favor and make sure that any company you
hire assures you that their employees pass these same background
checks and hold the proper licenses and insurances to do
business.
